Have you ever gone to a place, and said why didn't I come here sooner. Well, that is butts on the beach. Yes, theoretically it isn't on the beach it's about a half a mile away but I do know barbecue. This place is a funky dive and that's what makes it so nice. Don't expect much with the decor but you'll feel like you're at a barbecue joint. The staff is very nice and service was very quick. I ordered the brisket plate which was a brisket sandwich and I could pick two sides. I picked the cream corn with jalapeño and barbecue beans. Both were very acceptable. The brisket sandwich although was a little dry it was more than acceptable. Actually I really liked it had very mild smoky overtones and there really wasn't need to sauce it even though I did. This is a definite I would come back for more.

I visited the Butts on the Beach on the Gulf State Park Pier. I wish no stars were an option. There were 2 people were behind the counter. The girl had just waited on a lady and then had to inform her she would have to wait as there was no sweet tea. She started to make that and I thought the guy behind the counter would go ahead and serve me. Not only did he not serve me, he did not even speak to me even though he was facing me and saw me standing there with cash in hand. I waited a bit and he started opening some sugar and still said nothing to me; no "I'll be right with you ma'am" nothing. As one who works in the service industry this is not a way to gain and keep patrons. Anyway, I finally just turned around and left. This establishment never has to be bothered with me again.

My son an I ate pulled pork sandwiches and my daughter had the chicken sandwich. My daughter did not like the chicken sandwich. When I ate her left overs I realized why she didn't like it. The chicken was very dry like it had been under a heat lamp all day. The pulled pork sandwiches were ok. They didn't taste that great and drowned them with their signature bar b que sauce which was pretty good. This place is expensive for what you get. $10 gets you a sandwich, $2 for a small 2 once Cole slaw. Not worth the money.

I was thoroughly disappointed with Butts on the Beach. The location we went to left on our butts definitely not on the beach. We were off of the highway with the view of some neighborhood houses and trash piles. I got the rib sandwich and it was pretty good, until I found a hair in my sandwich. I will say that the service was really nice. When we ordered the lady was smiling happily and she was really nice.

We swung in here on our way to a friend's house to appease our empty stomachs. It's a small shack, but has good food inside (NO FISH, according to the sign at the front door). Boyfriend and I both got sandwiches (it was getting close to dinnertime and we just needed something to hold us over after skipping lunch); his was pulled pork and mine was pulled chicken. The sandwiches come dry and you can choose your sauce in the dining area. We both liked the Sassy sauce, which had a little bit of a kick to it without being overwhelming. I bet you could get the meat tossed in a particular sauce if you asked. I just drenched mine in sauce on both sides of the bread. The only downside was the buns used for the sandwiches. They're really thick, fluffy buns that would be great for a hamburger, but it was almost too much for a BBQ sandwich. It's just too much bread in relation to the meat, even though it can soak up a lot of sauce (great for people like me who can go a little crazy with sauces). I can understand they're going for a higher quality bun, but it might be the case where keeping with traditional white bread is best. Overall it's definitely worth checking out! Especially if you're not in the mood for seafood and just need something good to eat. We will probably be back next time we're in town!

Horrible horrible food. Dried out, overcooked, over priced. Not a thing decent about this place but it is very aptly named. Not worth even one star.

The food was great, and the staff was very friendly. Our group of 6 arrived 5 minutes before closing time, and they went out of their way to accomodate us. I would not hesitate to go back!

This new barbeque spot joins a legion of restaurants in Orange Beach ready to feed hungry locals and beach goers. I had no complaints about the food, but there's nothing that demands a special trip. My pulled pork sandwich was too bready and I ended up eating it open faced. Whether it had been left out or was the brand of bun being used, it was a little too hard. Baked beans were standard but the potato salad had a nice piquant dressing and unique taste. I saw a customer try and cut his ribs with cheap plasticware. It didn't work so well. Seating is limited to a six foot folding table and a ledge on the small screened porch. Outside deck seating is being readied for warmer months. But, the small footprint and limited parking is designed more for take out. Delivery comes with a $2 upcharge. If you're driving by and in the mood stop by this pop up restaurant.

Stopped by for some food to go. Good service. Wish we could have dined in. Sassy sauce was properly named...as sweet and spicy flirted with an attitude. Brisket was tender and juicy. Pork was awesome. Ribs were not the best I've ever had, but worth it. Will be back if we are ever in OBA!

Good BBQ if you are looking for something different at the beach. The brisket was a bit fatty but was tasty and the ribs were good. The sides were good.. I had green beans and collards. The portions are not too large but appropriate for a good meal.

The brisket was great, but the service was lacking. We ordered 5 lbs. of brisket for carry out based on their website price of $10.75/lb. However, when we picked up the order they refused to honor the website price indicating that the prices had been updated recently to a very different $14.95/lb.! Also they charge $1/bun to go with the meat. Ouch!

Great service, great food. The pulled pork, brisket and ribs were fantastic. The cornbread pudding was surprisingly the kids' favorite. We are from Texas, and this place beats out what we have there. A big plus, they have collard greens!! Finally, the sweet lady who cooks it all up is a "hometown" girl from Gulf Shores.

The eggroll are the best! There are lots of sides to choose from. I got fried pickels and French fies. They also have corn on the cob and baked beans. On the day we went we got a free browine! Casual and the service is great!

This place is great! The greens are the best I've ever had at a BBQ place and they give you lots of food! The bathroom was spotless and the corn with jalepeno was very festive. Very reasonably priced as well. (The only thing I didn't much care for was the cornbread which was kind of dry and crumbly but you don't go to a BBQ dive for the cornbread!) I will definitely be back!
